In Loving Memory of

Florence (Luling) A. Canonigo

Born August 10, 1925 - Departed August 23, 2003

Poem written by 2nd Daughter Lisa Arquilada Lazaro  at her Mom's hospital bedside...while waiting for her to awaken from a grueling heart surgery from which she never recovered...

Where are you mom?

Where did you go?

Are you in that dreaming sleep

That deep and quiet slumber sleep.

That "don't wake me now I'm sleeping sleep."

Or have you drifted away

To places remembered

Where clouds danced with the wind

And tumbled into angels and dragons.

Are you running along the river

With your brothers and sisters

And kicking up the dust of the harvest

Till it blackened your toes.

Is dad standing by you?

Is he holding your heart?

Or is grandma quietly laughing

Putting a white gardenia in your black, black hair.

Where are you Mom?

Where did you go?
